Johnson holds talks in Kyiv with Zelensky

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has held talks in Kyiv with Ukraines President Volodymyr Zelensky

No 10 said the visit was a show of "solidarity" with Ukraine and that Mr Johnson had "reiterated the UK's unwavering support" for the country.

Johnson urged Russia to step back

Speaking alongside President Zelensky in Kyiv, Mr Johnson said: "We will not rest until Russia ends its barbaric assault on Ukraine."

"I urge Russia to step back from the abyss and allow a diplomatic solution to prevail," he added.

Johnson announced a training programme for Ukrainian forces

Mr Johnson also announced a new training programme for Ukrainian forces, which he said could "change the equation of the war".

"This training programme will give Ukrainian soldiers the skills they need to defend their country and their freedom," he said.

Johnson's visit to Kyiv

Mr Johnson's visit to Kyiv is his second since the start of the war in Ukraine.

In April, he met with President Zelensky in Kyiv and pledged £100 million in military aid to Ukraine.
